Mechanical Engineer
Position Overview
As a Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for the chassis and drivetrain of our rovers which compete annually. Rovers are subject to intense loads during their operational lifespan including but not limited to shock, acceleration and vibration. It is imperative that the structures of the rover body can withstand these while being as light as possible to leave more mass for payload.
Responsibilities
- CAD – Design and creation of components for manufacture
- Assessment of manufacturability at all stages of design
- Hands-on manufacture of components
- Assembly and integration of components into final vehicle
- Creating Technical Drawings
Useful Skills
- SolidWorks- Proficiency in SolidWorks for creating detailed and accurate 3D models.
- Hands-on experience in a workshop manufacturing components
- Knowledge of manufacturing techniques used in aerospace
- FEA – Practice analysing Finite Element models on software such as Abaqus or Ansys
- Excel – Proficiency in organizing and analysing data, creating spreadsheets, and generating reports
