Propulsion Engineer

Position Overview  

As a Propulsion Engineer you will play an integral part in the concepts, design and construction of the QPL’s rocket engines. Propulsion is one of the most challenging and competitive disciplines rocketry has to offer and as such, places on the team are often in high demand. 

Responsibilities

  • CFD/FEA analysis (especially in heat transfer, and materials under changing thermal conditions)
  • Motor ballistics and performance modelling
  • Supersonic nozzle design
  • CAD (including design and creating drawing for manufacture)
  • Oxidiser systems including the design of storage, delivery and control of the oxidiser

Useful Skills

  • SolidWorks- Proficiency in SolidWorks for creating detailed and accurate 3D models and drawings
  • MATLAB– Experience working on data analysis, simulation, and algorithm development
  • Coding experience (C+, Python etc)
  • Excel- Proficiency in organizing and analysing data, creating spreadsheets and generating reports.
